Round one of the US Open is in the books. Wes Malott led the round with a +210-pin round. Sam Cooley was 15 pins behind him in second place with + 195-pins. Deo Benard, Andrew Anderson and Nathan Stubler round out the top five. The cut line was at the top 36 and that final spot belongs to Patrick Hanrahan at +13 -pins, just a single pin ahead of Sean Rash.

In terms of our players to watch it’s a mixed bag. Anthony Simonsen is in 15th place, while EJ Tackett is in 20th place. Bill O’Neill is in 54th place, while Kris Prather is in 61st. Jason Belmonte sits in 67th place. Francois Lavoie is near the bottom of the 108-player field in 99th place with a -140-pins score. Can’t some of our players to watch improve on day two?
