MLW Wiffleball has concluded the first slate of games. Having gotten a look at each team in one series let’s see who each team is doing so far.

8. Metro Magic

The defending world series winners looked bad on opening day.

7. Western Wildcats

The pitching staff got hit hard surrendering 22 runs in three games. They didn’t get swept, but giving up twice as many runs as you score is a bit alarming.

6. Coastal Cobras

I think they overperformed a little in this series picking up a win. Though they did have spirts where the pitching and the hitting seemed to be showing life. They did give up less runs than the Wildcats did so that’s why they rank above them.

5. Great Lakes Gators

The new look Gators held their own this series. The pitching was great, and they limited a stacked Mallards hitting core to just two runs in three games. However, the bats just weren’t able to wake up. if they can start hitting and keep the pitching strong, they should have a chance in any series.

4. Midwest Mallards

This ranking might seem a bit out of place. I mean the pitching was lights out only allowing a single run in a 2-1 series win. However, I don’t think many other series will be this low scoring, so the bats have got to wake up. With world series aspirations they can’t expect to win every game 1-0. Plus, with pretty much every team outside of the Gators and Magic putting up some runs in their first series of the year it’s a bit disappointed to the see the lack of hitting.

3. Pacific Predators

They got a balanced offense and defense production and two wins.

2. Downtown Diamondbacks

The Diamondback crushed Wildcats pitching and ended up with a pair of 10-1 victories. They scored 22 runs in three games most of any team and got two strong pitching

1.Eastern Eagles

The Eagles looked to be out for revenge against the Magic and they got it. They outscored them 14-2 and are the only team to sweep a series.

Which teams will make moves in slate two? Tune in to find out.
