What did day two of the 2024 League of Legends World championship bring?

The first series of today’s play in action featured Vietnam number one seed Gam Esports and the second seed from the Asia-Pacific region Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS gaming.

Hawks gaming took an early lead in game one, but it wasn’t enough as Gam took control in the mid game and never looked back.

Game two was more of the same. Hawks had an early lead, but in the mid game Gam took over and started just dominating. It was plenty to get the job done as they finished off relatively easy 2-0 sweep to advance to the qualification match.

In the second best of three LCS three seed 100 Thieves played the champions of the LLA Movistar R7. This one was one the popcorn for.

Game one went back and forth as Movistar R7 gave 100 Thieves all they could handle. Yet in the end 100 Thieves were able to take down the nexus and take a 1-0 lead.

Game two saw both teams engage in a 36-minute game, where R7 won in upset fashion to force game three.

Game three saw R7 put 100 Thieves on the backfoot early and never look back as they held them off to take the series 2-1 and score the first upset at worlds 2024.

Gam Esports faces Movistar R7 in a qualification match on Friday as a result with the winner headed to the Swiss Stage.100 Thieves and Hawks face off in a loser’s bracket match on Saturday.
