The LCK has reached the final three teams left in the Summer Split playoffs. What can we expect from this weekends action?

Round three starts off the weekend as a semifinal of sorts. Hanwha Life the number two see faces T1 the number four seed in this match. This is a rematch of the round two winner’s bracket that was won by Hanwha Life. Unfortunately, they fell to Gen.G to drop down to the second bracket. T1 defeated Dplus Kia to reach this match after Hanwha Life knocked them into the loser’s bracket.

The winner of the match moves on to face Gen.G for the LCK Summer Split title and the number one seed for the LCK at worlds.

Gen.G did qualify for worlds via their 2024 MSI title, but they are still looking to earn the top seed. Yet they are in regardless of if they win the title or not.

Championship points are also on the line. The third-place finisher earns 80 points, while second place earns 100 points. T1 currently has a 20-point lead over Hanwha Life in championship points from the Spring Split. The team that ends with the most championship points earns the second seed to worlds and avoids the LCK regional finals.

Should T1 and Hanwha Life end up tied in championship points, which would mean T1 loses to Hanwha Life, who then loses to Gen.G in the finals, the tiebreaker is points earned in the Summer Split. That tiebreaker would go to Hanwha Life to then qualify them for worlds.

A T1 win over Hanwha Life would clinch them a worlds slot regardless of result in the finals against Gen.G.

The third-place team after this weekend heads to the LCK regional final as the top seed for that tournament. They would just need to win one best of five series then to earn a worlds spot.

There’s a lot left to play for this weekend. Saturday September 7, 2024, is the date for the semifinal match and then the championship match on Sunday September 8th, 2024. Which team will stand victorious as champions of the LCK?
