2024 Big 12 Conference Football Preview

The Big 12 is another conference that saw some shakeups in the offseason. How this effect the conference this season? Let’s take a look as we preview the conference.

2023 Big 12 champions Texas is gone, as is Oklahoma. Which does make the conference lose a couple of strong teams. Yet it allows for a new top team to rise up and take the title.

Utah is actually the highest-ranking team in the conference to start the season. The Utes are ranked 12th in the preseason poll. Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas and Arizona are the other ranked teams in the Big 12 to start the season.

Having five ranked teams puts them behind the SEC and Big Ten in terms of total ranked teams, but ahead of the ACC, which has four preseason ranked teams. It’s the mid-range of the four power conferences.

I think while the degree of difficulty with not having as many ranked teams doesn’t seem as high at first glance, I don’t think it’s a bad conference by any means. The former Pac -12 teams mixing in should shakeup the conference a good bit. Making it well worth the match to see some Big 12 football in 2024.
