2024-2025 NBA Season Set to Tip Off

S. Samek

It’s the start of a brand-new NBA season tonight. Two games will start off opening night before we get into the first week of NBA action this season.

The defending NBA champion Boston Celtic host the New York Knicks now with Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. Though the Celtics do look to be considered favorites to repeat as champions entering the season.

The second opening night tilt sees the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves do battle. Can new addition Julius Randle help the Timberwolves get past his former team in the Lakers?

The defending Western conference champions Dallas Mavericks will play their opening game Thursday October 24th at home against 2023/2024 Rookie of the year Victor Wembanyama. How will Wembanyama play during his second year in the league? Will he help San Antonio get better after a 22-60 finish last year?

The Mavericks look to defend their conference title, yet they face strong competition from the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Zaccharie Risacher, who was the top selection in this past draft will suit up for Atlanta against Brooklyn on Wednesday October 23rd, 2024, for his first regular season game in the NBA. How will Risacher factor in the rookie of the year race is also something to watch for this season.

I’m excited to see if the Pistons can avoid going on a major losing streak this year. They play their first game of the year against Indiana on Wednesday. Could this be the year the get out of the Eastern Conference basement?

I can’t wait to see what the NBA has in store for this season. Stay tuned for NBA coverage throughout the season here on Hammer Down Sports Blog!
