2014 AVCA Week 6 poll: Maroons replace Titans
No. 25 Chicago reentered the poll for the first time since the preseason on the heels of its four-set win over Washington-St. Louis, which fell four spots to eighth. The Maroons replace UW Oshkosh, which was swept by UW-Stout.
Unbeaten Hope remains the unanimous top team in the nation in this week’s poll. The Dutch are followed by Cal Lutheran, Emory, Calvin and Wittenberg.
Other Central and Midwest teams in the Week 6 poll: No. 9 Elmhurst; No. 12 St. Thomas; No. 14 UW-Stevens Point; No. 15 Nebraska Wesleyan; No. 20 Millikin; No. 21 Saint Benedict; No. 22 Carthage; No. 24 Augsburg.
Nebraska Wesleyan jumped seven spots after finishing its D III schedule unbeaten, including wins over Washington-St. Louis, Colorado College and Christopher Newport. Good job, good effort, voters. But it’s not high enough. NWU is still behind WUSTL, CC and CNU.
Central and Midwest team receiving votes this week: UW-Whitewater; Coe; UW Oshkosh; Cornell; Wartburg.
For comparison’s sake, here’s my Week 6 top 10, which offers the admittedly rosiest position for NWU.
