11/1: IIAC, MIAC, NAC finals set

Many more postseason tournament matches around the country tonight. Use the Links to all Conference Tourneys page tonight and all this week. I will be tracking Pool A teams from around the country on that page.

The storm appears to have affected the CUNYAC tournament even further. CUNYAC institution gymnasiums are still be used as shelter for displaced citizens. As a result, Baruch will no longer host, and all matches will be played at CCNY. Originally scheduled to be an eight-team event, the CUNYAC tourney now appears to be just the top four seeds. The CUNYAC semis and final will be played Nov. 2. It looks like Nos. 5-8 seeded Brooklyn, York, CSI and John Jay are now out of the tournament.

Another note that you may not have been aware of: Ohio Athletic Conference member Baldwin Wallace self-reported financial aid violations and withdrew from all postseason competition. So, if you’re looking at the OAC tournament schedule and wonder how No. 3 Ohio Northern advanced to the semifinals without playing a quarterfinal match, the OAC decided to continue the tourney as if BW played and lost its match to Ohio Northern. BW self reported shortly before OAC tournaments were set to begin.

While I’m at it with the bad news from the D-III women’s volleyball world, Great South Athletic Conference member Spelman has decided to drop its NCAA program after this season.
