The Day of the Dead is my favorite holiday here in Mexico. It comes loaded with color, good food, family time, and a magical atmosphere. What’s not to like?
Every 1st and 2nd November, Mexican families prepare to greet the souls of loved ones. They set up altars with food, colorful paper decorations, bright bouquets of marigolds, and lighted candles. It’s not a celebration of Death, but rather a welcoming of long-lost family and friends.
